Creating a world free of celiac disease
God has created a world where people from different races and different lifestyle live in different geographical localities.
Thanks to the innate capability he develops in us in throughout the life cycle, which gives him natural abilities to adapt in a different geographical situation.
What is this natural ability?
Let’s first discuss about the natural/ innate ability is the development of the immune response system through neonatal, infant and adult life, including pregnancy and ultimately ending with the decline in old age.
When a child is born he has an immature, innate and adaptive immune system, which develops and takes memory as he or she grows. With age, it keeps declining and these variations are considered besides the risks of different types of infection, autoimmune disease, and malignancy and the innate immune system helps you develop an early first line of defence against invading pathogens. In this whole procedure the cells which are involved include neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells, which all interact with the adaptive immune system.
What is Celiac disease?
People with an overactive immune system are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases and celiac disease also termed as gluten-sensitive enteropathy is an immune reaction because of eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.
Individuals who are found suffering from the celiac disease on consuming gluten trigger an immune response in the small intestine. As time passes by this autoimmune reaction destroys the small intestine’s lining and prevents absorption of some nutrients (malabsorption). The disease can’t be cured completely but you can be free from its complexities if you follow a strict gluten-free diet. This can help you manage symptoms and promote intestinal healing.

What is Gluten?
Gluten is a protein obtained in foods made with wheat, barley, rye, and triticale and is also found in oats which have been made in processing plants that handle other grains. Moreover Gluten content can also be found in some medicines, vitamins, and lipsticks. Because of gluten sensitivity, the body is unable to digest or break down gluten.
What happens in a Celiac disease?
In the case of celiac disease, the immune response to gluten creates poisons that damage the villi. Villi which are tiny finger-like protrusions inside the small intestines become damaged and the body is unable to absorb nutrients from food. This ultimately leads to illness and other serious health complexities, including permanent intestinal damage.
Signs and symptoms of Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is characterized in adults as diarrhea, fatigue, and weight loss. Men and women may also experience bloating and gas, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, and vomiting
Patients who are experiencing this disease also suffer from other symptoms like Irritability, Short stature, Delayed puberty, Neurological symptoms, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, headaches, lack of muscle coordination and seizures.
If undiagnosed and untreated Celiac disease can lead to long term health conditions like iron deficiency anemia, infertility and miscarriage, Vitamin and mineral deficiencies , pancreatic insufficiency , gall bladder malfunction , central and peripheral disorder of nervous system.
Dermatitis Herpetiform
Dermatitis Herpetiform is an added common symptom of celiac disease. It is characterized by an intensely itchy skin rash made up of bumps and blisters. These are found developing on the elbows, buttocks, and knees. Those who do experience DH usually don’t have digestive symptoms.
The symptoms can vary from person to person depending on various factors, including the length of time someone was breastfed as an infant, the age at which someone started eating gluten and the amount of gluten someone eats along with the severity of intestinal damage.
Resources
The Celiac disease runs in many families. If you or someone in your family has been diagnosed with celiac disease, your biological relatives should be tested for it as well.
